Whataburger and the Community
INTERVIEWS AND FAST FOOD
In my Google Blog, I had disclosed that I interviewed some customers as various local Whataburger's' in Corpus Christi and what I found was the conclusion that the Whataburger Co. was 'a family place to eat, a place to hang out after a successful baseball game or a place to have birthday parties. It was a place were people felt a sense of unity and happiness. Through the memories of these individuals I was able to find out why (at least in Corpus) people kept coming back. Although I am making a rather broad generalization of my findings, I was able to conclude why people enjoy Whataburger's service, it is simply not just because of the 'good food', but rather because it is something that our community has made our own. It is a tradition, among a few, to eat at Whataburger once a week or once a month as a way to 'get the band' back together and socialize among family and friends.
Now focusing on the actual food part of Whataburger's influence on our community is the straight forward fact that, in the time we live in, a lot of people are really just pressed for time, and the issue of dining out at a fast food type restaurant can save a lot of time on your hefty schedule. The food is often served quickly, and it doesn't take long to eat it, thus the meaning of 'Fast Food'. People don't have to spend time shopping at H-E-B having to think of what to make, or spend too much time cooking. Although the dining-in aspect of a sit down restaurant, does take a bit more time, it is still less time consuming than actually having to making the meal yourself.
A lot of people that I interviewed mentioned that they liked the fact that eating out is, frankly, just plain easier. You don't have to worry about trying to come up with something to eat that will not only satisfy your appetite but also your family members without wasting the time. All you need to do is go to through a drive-thru and choose something on the menu, and-- bam!--all the work is done for you.
